MCKENZIE, SENIOR 09

With Christmas coming up, what is your favorite part of the Holiday Season?

This may sound corny but my favorite part of the Holiday Season is getting to see all my family and friends. There have been a quite a few laughs and embarrassing moments that well..would be better off forgotten, but without my family and friends these would be just mere memories. Its the ones you share it with that makes everything truly special.

What’s your favorite kind of milkshake, and where do you usually get it?

I’m actually lactose-intolerant, but if I got to pick it would be a chocolate and peanutbutter milkshake at one of the old-fashioned soda shops :)

The last movie you saw was… was it good or bad?

The last movie I saw was Eagle Eye and I thought it was pretty good. I love action films and this one definitely had a different twist to it.

What inspires you?

Nature usually inspires me. It is so beautiful and serene even in the biggest of storms, and it reminds us to stop for a second from our daily lives and experience all that life has to offer.

What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?

Well not a whole lot… lol. Truthfully its because I have to be on time to school in order to do morning announcements everyday. But thinking about it more, each day is a chance for a new experience, a new friend, or new knowledge to be gained. I believe we should make the most out of everything we’re given and not everyone is given the gift of a new day, so make the most out of your fresh start.

What has been the best thing about your Senior Year so far?

I’d have to say the best thing about my Senior Year so far was beating Wenatchee by 4 points in our first swim meet of the season :) It was close the whole way through the meet and at the end the feeling was just overwhelming.

What values or rules do you live by?

I live by the morals my parents have taught me, the values of my faith, and my own personal convictions. I try to live by my standards and nobody elses.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

A lot of things actually. I am a mexiwegian( its mexican and norwegian), I’m allergic to wheat, I sing in my car to the people across from me in the intersection, I’m the “blondest” valedictorian that ever lived, I like to eat peanutbutter with a spoon, and I want to learn 5 different languages before I die.

If you could shop at any store, what would it be and what would you buy?

Its not exactly a store, but I love shopping at farmers’ markets especially in Ocean Beach, Cali. I usually by jewelry or fresh produce when I’m down there and I love it because I know my money isn’t going to some big corporation. A lot of the places even donate part of the proceeds to helping organizations, making my dollar go even further. Everything is original and unique that fits my taste.

Something I didn’t know yesterday, but I know today is….never try to

hiccup and breathe at the same time..its disastrous

ANNALISE, 2009 SENIOR

If your friends and family could only use three words to describe you, what would they be?

Outgoing, loyal, and funny.

If you could shop at any store, what would it be and what would you buy?

Hmm….I honestly don’t think I could narrow it down to one store. Two summers ago, I had to opportunity to take a tour of Europe. One of my favorite cities was Paris (A.k.a. The fashion capitol of the World!) If I could shop anywhere, I would go back to Champs Elysées, a famous street in Paris, in a heartbeat. :)

What are you looking forward to the most this year?

I am looking forward to making more memories with my three best girl friends; Sydney, Darby, and Jamie. We have been friends since the beginning of time and we want to make our senior year our best one yet.

What advice would you give upcoming seniors?

Don’t slack off. All of the hard work you put in will pay off in the long run. Also, savor every moment because life can change in an instant.

Name three things you cannot live without.

1)Friends and family. 2) Music. 3) My adorable golden doodle, Quincy Lucille.

What would you say is your guilty pleasure?

Grey’s Anatomy…and a vente blended chai tea at my favorite little coffee shop, The Vogue in Lake Chelan. :)

What’s the single most important thing you learned about yourself in your travels to Thailand this Summer?

As much as I loved Thailand, I realized how thankful I am to live in America. We take a lot of things for granted that the Thai people would kill to have. For example, it is so easy to get an education in the States. All Thai people have to pay to go to school from grade school on. A lot of the families do not have that kind of money.

If you could change any one thing in life, what would you change?

This is going to sound like the typical Miss America answer, but I would choose to end war. During my trip to Thailand this summer, I realized how similar everyone truly is. The Thai people were so gracious and loving. Family is so important to them, just like it is to us here in the United States. My wish is that everyone be more tolerant of our cultural and faith differences and recognize the similarities that we share as human beings.

My favorite ice cream flavor is….

Absolutely anything created by the two best boyfriends a girl can ask for, Ben and Jerry.  :)

Something I didn’t know yesterday, but I know today is….

that one of my favorite smells, a fresh rain, is caused by the moisture activating the bacteria on the ground. Refreshing, right? It’s still one of my favorites, regardless of the scientific definition.

BEN, 2009 SENIOR

Ben,
Thanks for letting us be a part of your Senior Portrait experience! You’re

going to be a great Senior President!

What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?

Waking up to a fresh start and being able to plan my own day.

What is your favorite movie genre?

Comedies. I am a big fan of stupid movies. Dumb and Dumber and Anchorman are hilarious.

What’s something that most people don’t know about you?

I have been saving up for a senior trip, with my friends, since my freshman year. We are planning on a road trip across the country.

PC or Mac?

Well I have never owned a Mac, but lately my PC has been getting filled with viruses which have really slowed it down. I hear Macs can’t catch viruses so I think I’m going to go with a Mac next time I buy a computer.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Sometimes My hair can get really crazy and annoying when it’s long, so I guess it would be kind of cool to have straight hair and not have to deal with these untamed, curly locks.

If you could have any super power what would it be?

I have always liked being in an airplane and looking down on cities, so if I could fly that would be pretty cool.

What is your favorite aspect of the Wenatchee area?

I like the Wenatchee area because there are so many different recreational things to do. There’s hiking, camping, boating, rafting, skiing and a lot more. The Wenatchee area is fun because if the weather is nice you can almost always find something to do.

If there was an extra hour in the day, what would you spend it doing?

I would spend it making movies with my friends.

What are you looking forward to the most this year as a Senior?

I am really looking forward to being in ASB next year. I can’t wait to make some changes around the school.

What advice would you give upcoming seniors?

Don’t dread going to school because it will only drag out your senior year. Take advantage of what school has to offer. High school is only as fun as you make it.

BRITTANY, 2009 SENIOR

Brittany – Thanks for letting us display your fantastic pictures! You are such a beautiful dancer and so driven to live your passions in life. :)

What would your perfect day consist of?

My perfect day would consist of sleeping in until 10:30, which would still leave me plenty of time for shopping at my favorite store in the early afternoon at American Eagle!  After shopping I would head home to my pool with my family and friends to soak up some sun, then head to the dance studio to be with my second family.

What’s something that most people don’t know about you?

Something that most people don’t know about me is that I put deep thought into my relationships with my family and friends.  I do not take any relationship lightly or take anything or anyone for granted.

When did you first realize you wanted dance to be a big part of your life?

I first realized that I wanted dance to be a big part of my life when I was 10 years old. It was the year I had my first solo, I loved the adrenaline rush and the feeling I got when I performed for the judges. I realized I wanted to pass my passion of dance on to other dancers  through choreography and teaching.

What’s your motto in life?

My motto in life is, “It’s your life, let it flow.” I have always believed that if you are too stressed in any situation in life, you will miss the moments that count and matter the most.

Chocolate or Vanilla?

Chocolate!

What is one thing you wish you were better at?

The one thing I wish I was better at is school sports. I have tried softball and soccer but it was just not the same as the feeling I receive from my sport, DANCING!

My favorite place to eat lunch is the Wok About Grill because I like that you get to pick and choose what you want and when you finally get to eat – it is still HOT!

What are your top five favorite movies of all time?

My top five favorite movies are:
  • Halloween (with Jamie Curtis)
  • Center Stage
  • Blair Witch Project
  • Life Or Something Like It
  • Cloverfield

What’s the best advice you could give someone?

The best advice I could give someone is “Have no regrets, forget the bad in the past, just remember what it all has taught you.”

Why would you recommend a friend go to Parsons for their Senior pictures?

I would recommend anyone to Parsons Photography because everyone is so welcoming and friendly. During my sessions, Craig and Dalisa were so helpful. They took their time with each of my poses and were very complimentary about my style and ideas!  They also connected with me on a personal level with their enthusiasm towards my dance session photos.  This really put me at ease and I was relaxed and excited to pose for the camera.  These are talented photographers who can bring out the best in you, they both made my sessions fun and relaxing!  I am so excited that I chose Parsons Photography for my senior portraits!
